Hello Bloggers! Today I’m talking about cinemas. Yep those places where you go to see movies. I this month have seen quite a few movies. A certain cinema company beginning with H promoted “see ANY three movies and get one free” I went to the movies for the fourth time this month and was like sweet I get this movie free. I had seen the movies in the entire time span at this cinema starting with H. When I enquired about this the young gentleman at the counter says that it is only selected movies and you have to swipe your membership card each time. I said I had swiped my membership card each time and then showed him the email on my phone showing where it says ANY film and yes ANY was in bold in the email too. He looked at the email and told me it couldn’t be done. It would say on my card that I would have a free ticket and it doesn’t. So with a few select curse words under my breath I reluctantly paid for my ticket.
Now to my real point to this story, illegal downloading. The movie industry begs us not to download films but does nothing about the increasing cost in seeing them. Tickets are now as high as $25 to see a film. When we buy DVD’s we are bombarded with film piracy ads but I feel like screaming I should download movies because what it cost me to see one film really should be the cost of five. Soon only the rich will go to the cinema. The rest of us will be in bed eating our homemade popcorn watching the film on our laptops. If the film industry wants more money they need to lower the cost of tickets I know it sounds crazy but when cheap Tuesday is too expensive the industry needs to stand up and listen.
And one last thing before I finish my rant, after my infuriating conversation with the guy at the ticket booth I made my way over to the candy bar and was looking at prices. $6 for a tiny bag of Mn’M’s! $6! I couldn’t believe it. So to go to the movies it now costs about $40. When I was a kid I was given $20 and had to give change back to mum and that included a meal from McDonalds.
Get with it people. Give us back our movies!
