Well I think the title says it all. Holiday season is over. The Christmas food has turned into Christmas fat, the New Years drinks have made me that little less smart. And I'm not that smart to begin with, so not good.
Everyone has that feeling of pulling their feet through a thick puddle of mud as they get into their cars to go to work. Or start going back to the gym and basically having to talk to people again. Yes the end of the holidays strikes the beginning of "life" again. Unless your Hugh Hefner and your job is to be fed grapes by various girlfriends then going back to work sucks. I work various jobs and not all of them are horrible but its the mere thought of having to be pleasant again. For me Christmas and New Years is about not having to be nice. I am nice and usually full of holiday cheer but because I want to be not because I don't want to be fired for telling a child to "bugger off" or a director to "shove it". Its the forced politeness that is so draining.
Not to say that I always force politeness and nicety because I rarely do but its those days where you want to be curled up under a doona with a hot cup of tea and good book rather than battling the elements and the every routine that make talking to people so hard.
The end of the holidays also marks the beginning of the end of summer. Its like a count down to rain and cold wind. I hate cold wind. Rain and cold weather in general I can take but its those freezing cold blustery days that make me want to turn around and go home until summer comes again. This is the time when the weather is perfect but everyone is stuck at work dreaming about relaxing on the beach with friends and family.
In conclusion this is the time where you suck it and deal. Throw yourself head first back into life and give it your best go. Shake off the holiday laziness and get going because if your so busy you have no time to day dream about sipping beer on the beach while a ripped man fans you with a giant leaf. Instead your taking that art class you always wanted to try or you're taking up dancing and filling your hours with repetitive dance moves. So get going, get out there and start 2011!
*wow maybe I should take that "how to be a motivational speaker" class...
