Its time to discuss Tinder. The place for singles to meet singles, ass wholes who cheat on their partners and catfish's to be well, catfish.
Now Tinder isn't the first of its kind and I'm sure there will be lots more to come. Here's a run down of what's out there.
eHarmony: Mainly for older people desperately seeking a relationship and babies.
RSVP: was for younger people looking for a relationship but now is more similar to eHarmony but maybe slightly more slutty.
Oasis: Tinder before Tinder mainly for random hook ups
Tinder: Mainly for people under 35. Half use it to meet people for potential dates and attempts at a relationship other half use it for Booty calls. But in the last year has become mainly a booty call app.
Now for people in a relationship Tinder is shocking and horrifying. When I told people in my friendship group that I was on Tinder the ones who had been in relationships since high school gasped and reached for their smelling salts at the thought. "How could you" "I could never use an app" "I would never do online dating" were just some of the responses. But in private my single friends would all swap stories and understand each other. This is an era of technology and there's nothing wrong with Internet dating. it doesn't mean we've given up on meeting someone organically in a cute we both reached for the same eggplant at the supermarket type way but as singletons we are just trying to make ourselves available.
Having been on tinder then deleting it then downloading it again and deleting it ect... I see its appeal and its flaws.
But I also see how its taboo that by telling people that your looking online for love then there must be something wrong with you or that its just wrong because there is no romance in it. Well to people who want us to be ashamed I say they should be ashamed. Because I guarantee that if they were single they would be downloading that little flame app on their phone and chatting away.
I've been out with my girlfriends at a bar chatting to guys on tinder and guys at the bar. Like I said earlier its just about making yourself available and doubling your chances of finding that person who you connect with. And hey I'm not saying that Tinder is where you meet your soulmate or booty calls. All I'm saying is society stop making singletons feel bad about using it. Today its Tinder tomorrow another dating app, just let people choose how they want to meet people and lets break the taboo of online dating.
